This free of charge program aims to build instructor being familiar with of the benefits and issues related with the manufacturing of nuclear medications. We will also design new techniques to educate Calendar year 9 and 10 students about isotopes and radioactivity using ICT, authentic knowledge and science inquiry capabilities.

Portion 1: Understanding nuclear medicines
Instructors will hear from authorities and scientists about:
- Recent nuclear medicines: Properties and uses
- Emerging systems in nuclear drugs
- Controlling nuclear squander properly
- Ideas for educating nuclear medications in the classroom
Section 2: Tour of ANSTO
Teachers will take part in a tour of ANSTO’s scientific services and discover how they are utilized to make nuclear medicines and manage squander from this method.
Part 3: Training about isotopes and radioactivity
ANSTO training officers will product instructing things to do from the “Investigating Isotopes” knowledge set that enable pupils recognize the chemical principles of isotopes, atomic selection, atomic mass, radioactivity and 50 %-everyday living. This course is a registered PD with the ACT Teacher Excellent Institute (TQI) and signifies 5 hrs of PD.
Completing Instructing nuclear science in Stage 5: Isotopes, radioactivity and nuclear medications (in human being or dwell virtual) will lead 5 hrs of NSW Education and learning Expectations Authority (NESA) Accredited PD in the precedence spot of Shipping and delivery and Assessment of NSW Curriculum/EYLF addressing common descriptors 2.1.2 & 2.6.2 from the Australian Expert Expectations for Academics toward retaining Proficient Instructor Accreditation in NSW.
