Ecosystem ministry extends deadline for Hamilton’s dredging of Chedoke Creek – Hamilton

Ontario’s setting ministry is providing the City of Hamilton right up until the end of 2023 to complete a focused dredging of Chedoke Creek.

In a letter to the city’s director of watershed administration on Tuesday, the ministry’s district supervisor and director said he recognized the “complexities, difficulties, and delays” the city and its contractors have endured even though executing the 2022 workplan.

“Given the complexities of the needed get the job done … and to ensure there is ideal time supplied to facilitate ongoing discussions with Indigenous communities that have desire in the Chedoke Creek workplan, I agree that an extension is essential,” the province’s Steven Burt said in his letter.
